Four Higher

Four Higher is a transformative chamber ensemble made up of some of the United State's leading young trombonists. Founded at the University of Colorado Boulder in 2024, the quartet strives to highlight the voices of different cultures and communities through curated programs with the aim of diversifying the trombone literature. The music they perform ranges from under-represented communities, to Latin music, to Americana, to classical standards.

In 2025, Four Higher performed as a featured artist ensemble at the Big 12 Trombone Conference. They are currently involved in a commission project with the respected composer, Andrew Markel. They are also frequent collaborators with composers Elizabeth Pompa and Robert Spillman.

Alongside being chamber musicians, the members are also active musicians holding positions with the Colorado Ballet, Symphony of the Rockies, San Juan Symphony, Boulder Symphony, and Longmont Symphony. In addition, members regularly perform with the Colorado Symphony, New Mexico Philharmonic, Colorado Springs Philharmonic, Colorado Opera, Greeley Philharmonic, Boulder Chamber Orchestra, Denver Philharmonic, and the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs.

The members of Four Higher are Mark Bennett, Ben Garcia, Corey Nance, and Wesley Shores.
